Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist provides support for the daily activities of the Corporate HR Department, working closely with the Director of Corporate HR, Benefits, and HRIS. The HR Generalist is responsible for the administration of the human resources policies, procedures, and programs and will collaborate with and provide support to HR subject matter experts in ensuring consistent and superior execution of initiatives in the following functional areas: organizational development and training, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, benefits, compensation, and recruiting. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in all facets of the employee life cycle from pre-employment through post-employment and contribute significantly to attaining specific goals and results of the HR department and the organization. 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Full Life-Cycle Recruiting, including posting, sourcing, and managing candidate information in the applicant tracking system and other related databases on a timely and accurate basis. Scheduling, coordinating, and conducting phone screens and interviews with internal and external candidates.
  • Assists with workforce planning activities, including preparing draft position descriptions and assessing departmental structures. Makes recommendations for IDP inclusion.
  • Consult with managers and staff regarding employee relations concerns, including coaching and counseling, workplace disputes, and facilitation of resolution of issues between management and staff. May lead internal investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Assist with non-routine pension matters and recommend appropriate solutions. Coordinate necessary support for auditing of plan and annual tax filings and compliance.
  • Review and respond to tier 2 leave matters, including FMLA matters of complexity (non-routine), and brief the Corporate HR Director. 
  • Assist internal and external customers by answering questions and directing them to the appropriate HR staff.
  • Maintenance of exit process, coordinating termination notifications and paperwork, obtaining relevant information from various stakeholders (i.e., confirming unused vacation, company property inventory, etc.), and completing exit interviews.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years' relevant HR experience or 5+ years' relevant experience are required without a degree. Must have strong recruiting experience.
  • Must thoroughly understand employment laws relating to the position's responsibilities.
  • Must possess a current PHR or SHRM-CP designation or be in the process of attaining the designation within the next 12 months.
  • Must have strong computer and phone skills and intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Experience with HR/payroll management software is required.  
  • Must have keen attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and adjust to shifting priorities as required.
  • This is a full-time, salaried position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some travel is expected for this position.
