This role plays a critical part in promoting safe work environments, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serving as a key liaison between leadership, field teams, and trade partners. - Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations while fostering a strong safety culture among employees and contractors
- Serve as a liaison with consultants and regulatory agencies, oversee hazardous waste compliance, report accidents and injuries to management, and ensure enforcement of Viera Builders safety protocols for both employees and contractors
- Support the development and implementation of company-wide safety programs and initiatives aimed at reducing workplace accidents and improving safety performance for employees and contractors
- Identify and communicate safety and environmental concerns, while providing OSHA guidance and effectively influencing a diverse workforce to uphold a strong safety culture
- Conduct employee safety training, perform jobsite audits, investigate incidents, and ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures
- Assist in reviewing and updating the Safety Management Plan and Emergency Action Plan annually in collaboration with Viera Builders management
- Maintain and audit OSHA 300 logs and support completion of the annual Occupational and Illness Survey in coordination with the Safety and Compliance team
Requirements
- High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred
- Certifications such as OSHA 30 (Construction) preferred; OSHA 10 (Construction), OSHA 500 or 7845, and/or SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention) are beneficial
- 3+ years of experience in residential and commercial construction with a strong focus on safety as a core responsibility
- Position includes a combination of office duties, fieldwork at construction sites, and occasional tasks in the warehouse
- Requires regular physical activity, including climbing, stooping, bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Occasional overnight travel may be required based on business needs
